Bunkyo Ward where the Tokyo Dome Hotel is located and the surrounding areas are home to many thoroughfares that have flourished since the Edo period. Many historic places can still be found in the midst of an increasing number of modern cultural facilities.

5 min. from Hakusan station on Subway Mita Line / Approx. 20 min. from the Hotel Originally a villa built for the fifth Shogun Tsunayoshi during the Edo period (1600 - 1868) and later converted into a charitable hospital by the Tokugawa shogunate. In 1877, it became a botanical garden attached to Tokyo University. A former Tokyo Medical School building, designated as an Important Cultural Property, is preserved in the garden.

It has come to be called Sanshiro Pond after Soseki Natsume's novel.

It now attracts students preparing for their school entrance examinations. A copper-coated torii (Shrine gate) stands at the entrance to the precincts.
